November Wrap-Up
I read 9 books in the month of November. Let's talk about them... :)
That's it for November! Going forward, I'll try to do more in depth "reviews" as I go and then something like this (quick) for the end of the month.
- The Poppy War by R. F. Kuang : 4/5 ⭐. The world-building, character development, and general plot had me unable to put the book down.
- The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang: 4.5/5 ⭐. The world-building becomes even deeper and the character development more meticulous. I liked the second installment even more than the first!
- The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb: 3.5/5 ⭐. Found this one to be a bit of a slow start with a premise that didn't quite land until a good ways into the book. I saw the "twist" coming from the start. That being said, I still enjoyed the book and found the world of classical music quite interesting!
- The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren: 4/5 ⭐. This was adorable; enemies to lovers classic trope. Exactly the light read I was hoping for.
- The Wilderwomen by Ruth Emmie Lang: 3/5 ⭐. I found this one to be a bit slow. It seemed very well written but the plot just didn't keep my interest (at least not to the point where I couldn't put the book down).
- The Burning God by R.F. Kuang: 3/5 ⭐. I struggled through this very long, albeit well written, finale. I was still immersed in the world and interested in the characters but I didn't care for the conclusion. I also found myself annoyed with the protagonist throughout the book. Wanted to love this one but it was lacking, for me. Still liked it though and would recommend finishing out the series.
- Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young: 5/5 ⭐. I had no expectations going into this book and ended up absolutely loving it. It had just enough magic, just enough mystery, and just enough romance to feel like the perfect cozy companion to a hot cup of coffee and some fuzzy socks.
- When In Rome by Sarah Adams: 3/5 ⭐. Cute. I'll admit it's probably not my favorite trope to begin with (sunshine meets grump) and the male character just didn't do it for me. He was too feminine and overly perfect. If that's your thing - you'll love this book. Also, because I didn't read the description before diving in, I was a little disappointed that the setting wasn't actually Rome, Italy...but that one is completely on me.
